Tania’s passion for floristry began in her hometown of Sydney, where she developed a deep connection to nature and Australia’s native plants like Proteas and Banksias. As a child, she spent hours in gardens, dreaming of becoming a gardener, but eventually found her path in floristry. This early love for plants shaped her unique style, making her skilled at arranging tropical flowers known for their striking beauty and resilience.
Tania’s floristry journey has been shaped by her travels. She’s lived in cities like Sydney, Dubai, Amsterdam, Milan, and London, finding inspiration in the different landscapes and cultures. Before joining Leaflike, she worked on high-profile events in London for clients like the All England Tennis Club, Sotheby’s, and Bonhams. Her global experiences have given her a wealth of knowledge, which she now brings to her work at Leaflike.
Tania approaches each project with care, thoughtfully considering the layout, lighting, and client preferences to choose the perfect materials and colours. Whether it’s silk (lifelike), fresh-cut, or preserved flowers, her designs feel fresh and seasonal – think rich burgundies and warm rust tones that capture the cosy feel of autumn. Fresh flowers offer air purification, while artificial and preserved options provide sustainability and longevity, especially in high-heat or bright-light environments where real flowers may wilt. Tania’s ability to select the right elements ensures each arrangement fits perfectly into its space, with lifelike flowers often indistinguishable from the real.
Tania also manages the selection of flowers for our weekly contracts, handpicking varieties and foliage that complement each other. She expertly navigates challenges like preventing Narcissus sap from damaging other blooms, ensuring each arrangement remains beautiful and long-lasting.
Passionate about staying on top of trends, Tania continuously seeks opportunities to learn. She recently completed a course in Wales focused on large urn projects and archways, bringing fresh ideas back to Leaflike. She attends the Spring Fair in Birmingham every year to explore suppliers’ latest offerings and select the most lifelike flowers.
Her connections with top floral designers around the world inspire her work. Tania often incorporates current trends into her designs, blending different influences to create unique displays tailored to each client’s vision. Her fascination with the history of flowers adds an extra layer to her work, allowing her to weave traditional techniques into modern designs.
